Function / Content

This series consists of 12 registers relating to deaths recorded across the Northern Territory (including Darwin, Gove, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs), and some parts of Western Australia and Queensland. Annual death registers include the following information; name, sex, date of birth, date of death, cause of death, and HRN (Hospital Registration Number, if applicable) (volume nos 1-4, box no.1; volume no.6, box no.2). Monthly death registers contain the following information; name, sex, date of birth, date of death, next of kin, place of death, HRN (Hospital Registration Number, if applicable), and cause of death (volume nos 5, box no.1; volume nos 7, 8-12, box no.2). 1 volume includes statistics relating to specific causes of death (alcohol induced, violent death, or motor vehicle accidents) and age at death (volume no.6, box no.2). Some language used in these records (which reflects the language used at the time the records were created) may be offensive. This series may contain references to Aboriginal people who have died, which may cause sadness and distress to their relatives. No offence has been intended by making these records available. Care and discretion should be used when viewing these records.
